I cannot recommend Katie Woolums with Little Lilacs Birth Services enough! I am a young mom and had my first baby this November. I had done a lot of research, but felt it would be helpful to have a doula and this was by far the best investment and decision that my husband and I made for our birth. Katie was such a calming presence. She came to our place twice prior to the birth to work on labor positioning and answer all of my questions. She provided several articles, links, videos, and her own perspective. She was responsive to all my texts before the birth and even after when I was struggling with breastfeeding. On the day of the birth, she was there with us for 15+ hours and helped us through so many unplanned events - i.e. an infection, shoulder dystocia, and our baby swallowing meconium and ending up in the NICU. She cried with me and supported me when I wasn’t able to have skin to skin with my baby girl and explained everything to me as things were happening. She reassured me and my husband the entire time, counted me through contractions, and was beyond incredible. She’s an amazing person inside and out - forever grateful that she was a part of our birth experience. If you’re thinking about hiring a doula - DO IT! And have Katie be there with you, you will never regret it! I could not say enough good things about her and the incredible experience she gave us.
